Hair Growth Vitamins for Women

If you want to re-grow hair you’ve lost, you need to consider your overall health.

Often hair loss is correlated with vitamin deficiencies, so begin your personal hair regrowth plan by making sure you're not missing any important vitamins. We can safely assume vitamin deficiency isn’t good, period and the best approach always starts with getting all your vitamins. But certain vitamins are particularly important to the health of the scalp. You should seriously consider taking a multivitamin pill each day to take care of your general health. But for restoring your hair, you need to focus on certain specific vitamins.

Make sure your multivitamin contains the vitamins we discuss below. If not, or if you're not currently taking a multivitamin, consider the Women's Multi Vitamin from HealthBuy, a trusted name in Health and Beauty and a member of the Natural Products Association.

Several of these play a disproportional role in the well-being of the scalp and the nourishment of hair follicles. Let’s begin with Vitamin A, best known as a good reason to eat carrots. Vitamin A is associated with the chemical carotene and is most common in red, yellow and orange vegetables. Liver is a good source of vitamin A, as are green leafy vegetables and eggs. Vitamin A is also a vitamin that is toxic in high dosages because it is difficult for the body to metabolize. Be sure to get enough vitamin A for your hair, but do it by sticking to the recommended Adult Daily Allowance from the government.

Vitamin B is actually a family of vitamins, all of which are important to your hair as well as general health. Vitamin B is present in nuts, peas, beans, and eggs among other foods.

Vitamin C, ascorbic acid, we all know from orange juice and colds. It is critical to the structural regeneration of the body, and also plays a role in good hair growth and regrowth. Vitamin C aids in the body’s absorption of glucosamine, association with cartilage and iron, associated with healthy blood cells. With regard to hair, Vitamin C is particularly important to the blood supply to hair follicles, keeping tiny blood follicles in good order. Vitamin C is also toxic in large doses, particularly to the liver, and again recommended government dosages should be followed.

Now let’s talk about the most famous vitamin of the 1970s, Vitamin E. There are plenty of shampoos still sold that offer the benefits of Vitamin E to hair, even though its exact role is still not completely understood. Nevertheless Vitamin E does appear necessary to health. It is common in plant oil foods like sesame and assists in oxygen uptake into blood that supports hair follicles. It is readily available as a direct poultice you can apply to your scalp contained in tiny gel pills available at drugstores. Adequate Vitamin E is also though to improve overall physical health.

Probably the most important vitamin key to hair health is biotin, which has recently become well-known. It offers the promise of making hair structure stronger and in general is a strengthener of hair-associated tissue. It is sometimes called Vitamin H even though it is a member of the B family of vitamins, and plays a key role in the body’s overall metabolism. Besides strengthening hair follicles it also adds protein (keratin) to nails on the fingers and toes, making them stronger. Biotin is relatively new to science and has received a lot of study in the past 20 years. It does appear to play a large role in hair and other tissue strength overall, but it is also not found in large concentration in any food, so supplements in this case should strongly be considered. Examples of foods with biotin include nuts, beer, egg yolks, cauliflower, soy and liver. This particular diet should probably not be consumed all at once! But because it is difficult to meet your daily need for biotin even with a balanced diet, we recommend biotin supplements or vitamins that contain biotin be strongly considered.

It is possible, and inexpensive, to help begin your new hair growth with an adequate supply of all the vitamins your body needs. A varied diet is never a bad idea but for anyone who really wants to regrow hair, this list of vitamins, available in one or more supplements you take each day, may not be a bad idea either. Also, don’t forget that cooking can result in foods losing their vitamin potency. Always keep the water you boil vegetables in for use as stock, because it will contain traces of all the water-soluble vegetables that you cooked.

Does your multivitamin contains the vitamins we discuss above. Is it formulated specifically for women? If not, you may to consider the Women's Multi Vitamin from HealthBuy, a trusted name in Health and Beauty and a member of the Natural Products Association, or perhaps get a recommendation from your doctor.
